CONFINED SPACE SPRAYING ROBOT FOR CROPS GROWN IN PACE TROUGHS (WITH OR WITHOUT FRAISI-BASCULE SYSTEM)

PACE troughs are used for soil-less, elevated cultivation of strawberries. They are arranged in such a way that the spraying robot can move freely between them. Each gutter can be identified by a number. The targeting of sprays containing active ingredients is becoming very accurate and can treat the core, scapes or leaves of the strawberry plant, with no waste.
A 3-sided containment system helps improve the effectiveness of the treatment and reduce the amount of product used, by limiting dispersal and allowing the recovery of any unused product.
Reductions in the amount of product used will reduce the air pollution in greenhouses and the harmful effects on workers.
The robot can be run off heat engines or electrically powered by batteries.

How it works:
The robot is positioned on a wire guided transport trolley containing pesticide and a power source. The trolley stops in front of every trough. An access ramp links the trough to the transport trolley.
The robot passes under the end of the troughs; it returns automatically, stopping alongside the trolley to recharge its battery and fill up with pesticide.
The troughs can be treated on the outward journey or return journey or both, in areas that are most infested.
Treatments are carried out automatically, without the need for human intervention, at the most convenient time of day.
Other uses will also become possible. Example: Pollinisation treatment. Transportation of empty or full packages.
To carry out more targeted treatment:
During crop harvest, the workers can indicate the rows that are most infested. The confined-space, spraying robot will respond more quickly, treating infected rows without polluting all the plants in the greenhouse.
When used in conjunction with the swing gutter system, the spray containment system could be larger and more effective, resulting in less pollution.

Protecting pesticide workers:
Eradicating or reducing human presence when carrying out spraying treatments. The project has been developed in cooperation with the CTIFL, INVENIO and the Cluster Machinisme du Néracais.
