RCS 2.0 – The innovative and sustainable rooting system
Selecta France SAS
RCS 2.0 is a new propagation system offering a unique combination of substrate-free rooting in compact, biodegradable paper sachets — innovative, sustainable and efficient.
With RCS 2.0 (Rooted Cuttings System), Selecta has created an entirely new and revolutionary young-plant product that combines environmental responsibility, resource efficiency and high performance. Rooting the cuttings requires minimal energy and no substrate, using environmentally friendly cellulose-based paper sachets. At the mother-plant site in Kenya, cuttings are rooted through a clean, standardised process using recyclable and recycled trays.
The substrate-free form of the product gives it an advantageous volume/weight ratio, enabling efficient transport. RCS 2.0 units are shipped without trays, which significantly reduces storage space, and far more plants can be shipped per box compared with conventional rooted young plants. In addition to the higher capacity, the amount of material required is also greatly reduced.
Customers receive a ready-to-use product that can be handled flexibly. The individual pre-cut sachets can be processed manually on conveyor belts/tables or mechanically. RCS 2.0 young plants can be used directly and are suitable for different pot sizes, jumbo RCs or six-packs.
