Corky Root–Resistant Lettuce Range
Vilmorin-Mikado
Our new range of lettuces resistant to corky root marks a major step forward in agronomic performance and plant health security for growers.
Corky root, caused by Sphingomonas suberifaciens (formerly Rhizorhapis suberifaciens), is a root disease that weakens plant vigour, slows growth and can lead to significant losses in both yield and quality. In response to this challenge, Vilmorin-Mikado is proud to be the first seed company to offer a complete range of resistant varieties, covering all types of tender leaves: batavia, butterhead and oak leaf.
What also sets this range apart is its unique resistance package. Each variety combines resistance to corky root with resistance to other major root and foliar pathogens, including Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lactucae (race 1 and/or race 4), Bremia lactucae (Bl: 29–41EU), the lettuce aphid Nasonovia ribisnigri (Nr:0) and Lettuce Mosaic Virus (LMV1).
