ByeNematode® is an innovative biocontrol solution designed to sustainably regulate root-knot nematode populations in vegetable crops. It is based on a newly applied soil-dwelling predatory mite, combined with a decision-support tool (DST) and a dedicated ergonomic applicator. This unique triptych enables effective, consistent and economically viable control of these soil pests, which are responsible for severe yield losses.

Developed in partnership with INRAE, from laboratory to field, the solution has been tested across France on various susceptible crops (tomatoes, cucumbers, basil and more). The selected predatory mite is naturally present in European soils, but at densities too low to sufficiently limit infestations on its own. It is capable of burrowing several dozen centimetres into the soil and has a strong predation capacity, gradually reducing nematode populations without affecting local soil fauna or flora.

The DST models mite population dynamics according to numerous biotic and abiotic parameters (soil type, climate, infestation level, crop), providing growers with recommendations on the optimal dose, timing and frequency of introductions.

An innovative applicator, designed and manufactured in France, enables fast and precise placement at the base of plants, significantly reducing labour time and physical effort. The mites are also produced in France, and the solution is compatible with organic farming, leaving no residues and causing no negative environmental effects.
