AgroMetInfo
INRAE
The acceleration of climate change — with increasingly frequent and intense droughts, heatwaves and heavy rainfall — is having a major impact on agriculture.
INRAE, with support from Météo France, has developed a web-based agro-climatic mapping tool covering mainland France, designed for professionals as well as anyone interested in climate and agriculture.
The AgroMetInfo 2.0 application allows users to monitor, on a daily basis and at both local and national scales, the evolution of a wide range of agroclimatic indicators — for example, the number of days with temperatures above 25°C or 35°C, or the number of frost days over a given period. It also offers the ability to compare real-time weather conditions with France’s reference climate period (1991–2020).
Comparing the current year’s climatic conditions with historical reference years enables agricultural professionals to anticipate the year’s climatic profile and the potential impact on the ongoing crop cycle, helping them plan and implement necessary adaptations.
