Solar Shrink® is a patented agricultural mulch film developed through a collaboration between Solar Shrink and the Armando Alvarez Group (Reyenvas–Solplast–Sotrafa).
Unlike conventional films, it has the unique ability to shrink under sunlight — even at moderate temperatures. This feature ensures a permanently tight and uniform mulch tension over the crop bed.

When perfectly tightened, wind-induced flutter is eliminated. Such flutter is a major cause of damage to young plants and often requires manual intervention during or after installation of standard mulch films to stabilise them (adding soil), which is both time-consuming and costly.
This permanent contact with the soil significantly improves heat conduction (less thermal loss) and optimises water availability for the plant.

The reduced thickness of Solar Shrink® (40–50% thinner than standard mulches) comes with mechanical strength far superior to conventional films, including 50 μm references. The result is a material that is both lighter and more robust. Its reduced carbon footprint per hectare (compared with thicker conventional mulches) allows it to meet European policy targets for plastic reduction.
